♥ The overall setting measures 28.1mm in length, 40.3 mm in width, and is 2.1 mm thick
♥ This piece has no metal mark but is acid tested to be at least 14K gold. The black stuff on the back is likely firescale caused by soldering the pin to the back. We lightly polished a corner of the black stuff and was able to remove it to reveal the gold underneath.

♥♥ Taille d’épargne, sometimes referred to as black enamel tracery, translates from the French literally as "saving cut." It is a variation of champlevé whereby engraved lines forming a design are incised into the metal and are filled with opaque enamel – usually black. This technique was often used to decorate bracelets, watch cases, chatelaines and mourning jewelry.
